Sometimes it’s impossible to avoid potholes, but driving through them at any speed faster than a crawl can bend wheel rims and brake struts,” according to car editor Matt Smith as he’s quoted in the Reader’s Digest.
Other daily mistakes that can harm your car, according to the Reader’s Digest: using cheap gas, not driving your car enough, not properly aligning your wheels, failing to wash your car outside and under the hood, holding the shift, using cheap or incorrect parts and/or fluids, failing to change the oil often enough, and slamming on the brakes too often.
