Tracy’s Automotive will help if your dashboard lights indicate something is wrong with your car.
It always happens when you least expect it. You’re driving to Exploration Place with enjoyment on your mind when you look down and see that one (or more) of your dashboard lights has come on.
Now you’re left with a decision. Do you panic, pull over to the side of the road and call for a tow truck? Or do you just breathe heavily and drive on while hoping it’s nothing too serious?
That depends on what light has come on.
“There are three warning lights that require immediate attention, and if you ignore them you could be stranded,” according to wcpo.com.
Those three: the thermometer, the oil can, or the battery.
“A thermometer means your motor is overheating, usually because it is low on coolant. This can mean a radiator leak, burst hose, or several other things. Keep driving, and you may blow an engine gasket,” wcpo.com says. The oil can, “means your oil is dangerously low. It doesn’t mean it’s simply time for an oil change.
“In both cases, pull off the road as soon as it’s safe: Do not keep driving, as your engine could seize up in a few if you don’t shut it off soon.”
If your battery light comes on, wcpo.com says you don’t have to immediately pull over to the side of the road. But you do need to get to a Wichita auto repair shop asap because your car will stop soon. The light is telling you that your alternator is no longer charging your battery.
Wondering about the dreaded check engine light? Wcpo.com explains, “It can mean your emissions system has a problem, your gas cap is open, your catalytic converter is failing, a vacuum hose is leaking, or the car woke up on the wrong side of the bed and is having a bad hair day. … You can keep driving. Just have a shop check your engine soon.”
