- In freezing rain, stay home if possible. If not, be especially careful. Stick to main roads.
It’s also wise to make sure your car is in top condition for winter weather and dangerous roads: Make sure your battery and brakes work. And consider getting winter tires if you have to travel a lot. If you decide not to get winter tires, make sure the tires you are using are in good shape with plenty of tread and make sure they’re properly inflated.
