Despite high gas prices, AAA is predicting that 42 million Americans — more than ever — will take a road trip of 50 miles or more during the upcoming three-day July 4 weekend. You can avoid being one of those sorry souls with a bit of preparation: Have an auto care technician take a look at your car now to make sure it’s ready to hit the hot road. AAA offers this list of items that should be checked before you head out on that trip:
- Check your tires and tire pressure.
- Inspect your brakes
- Test your battery.
- Change your oil if needed. If it’s not time for an oil change, check the oil and top off the oil and any fluids that are low.
- Check your belts and hoses.
- Make sure your auto air conditioner is working.
- Have your filters inspected and replaced if necessary.
