If you’re planning to get away for the long July 4 holiday weekend, let Tracy’s Automotive make sure your car is ready for the journey.
Despite high gas prices, AAA is predicting that 42 million Americans — more than ever — will take a road trip of 50 miles or more during the upcoming three-day July 4 weekend. You know what that means – crowded roads and lots of drivers calling AAA and other auto repair service centers for help when the fun trip turns into a nightmare.
You can avoid being one of those sorry souls with a bit of preparation: Have an auto care technician take a look at your car now to make sure it’s ready to hit the hot road. AAA offers this list of items that should be checked before you head out on that trip:
- Check your tires and tire pressure.
- Inspect your brakes
- Test your battery.
- Change your oil if needed. If it’s not time for an oil change, check the oil and top off the oil and any fluids that are low.
- Check your belts and hoses.
- Make sure your auto air conditioner is working.
- Have your filters inspected and replaced if necessary.
If you’re sitting there thinking, this isn’t for me. I”m planning to stick around Wichita and enjoy some of the local events, like Celebrate America or the Concert and Fireworks at Bradley Fair, think again. Just because you’re at home doesn’t make your car immune to breakdowns or dead batteries. You should also get your car checked over – especially if anything has seemed off – before everything closes for the long weekend.
If you don’t have a trusted Wichita auto care mechanic, then it’s time to get to know the auto care pros at Tracy’s Automotive.
